Legendary Sugar is back — with the original lineup of Bob Mould, David Barbe, and Malcolm Travis. Armed with the brand-new singles “House of Dead Memories” and “Long Live Love,” they are heading out on the Love You Even Still World Tour, and on June 9, it’s Debaser Strand’s turn.
Bob Mould had already left a profound mark on the DNA of alternative rock with Hüsker Dü when he formed Sugar in late 1991 alongside David Barbe and Malcolm Travis. The band made its live debut at the legendary 40 Watt Club in Athens, Georgia, and achieved major success with Copper Blue, which was named Album of the Year by NME in 1992. The record quickly became a landmark release, celebrated for the melodic power of songs such as “A Good Idea,” “Helpless,” and “If I Can’t Change Your Mind.” In the years that followed, the trio released several critically acclaimed albums and made their mark on stages around the world before calling it a day in 1995.
Now they are back, delivering the same high-volume, guitar-driven rock that fans have always loved them for. Their latest single, “Long Live Love,” follows the acclaimed comeback track “House of Dead Memories” and proves that Sugar still possesses a spark that few other bands can even come close to matching.
